The Highlander XLE features Toyota's Dynamic Torque All-Wheel-Drive system. The XSE, Limited, and Platinum grades upgrade to Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD with Drive Mode Select and Driveline Disconnect for enhanced handling and efficiency.
All Highlander Hybrid models use an electronic on-demand AWD system with a separate rear-mounted electric motor that powers the rear axle when needed.
