Pre-Collision System

Did you know the difference between active and passive safety systems? Our latest Toyota Tip Tuesday video explains the difference with examples from Toyota.

Welcome to this week's Toyota Tip Tuesday. Today we're going to be talking about safety.  Today we're going to go over the difference between active and passive safety systems. For active safety systems, those are things like sensors, monitors, and radars, which are actively preventing you from getting into a collision.

Passive safety systems are things that reduce the impact of a collision on the passengers.  The first safety system we're going to talk about today is a pre-collision system. With Toyota's pre-collision system, you're actively avoiding a collision by detecting  pedestrians, bicyclists, and oncoming vehicles,  and your vehicle will actually alert you by doing audio as well as visual reminders, and in some situations it'll also brake for you before the collision will impact.

The next system we're going to talk about is kind of a two for one system. So lane departure alert alerts you if you're accidentally exiting the lane without using an indicator light,  and then lane tracing assist keeps you centered in the lane that you wish to stay in.  The next safety system we're going to talk about today is dynamic radar cruise control, which is sometimes It's also referred to as active cruise.
